1st Day of School

WOW! What a wonderful first day of school! It was so amazing to see all of the smiling faces this morning. I cannot wait until day 2.

Today we took a little time to get to know one another, which wasn't hard because everyone saw at least one familiar face from last year. However, we do have a few new faces to PCE. Then we read a fun and exciting poem titled "The Bear" and tied that into our phonics lesson where we learned about "br" consonant blends. Then we moved into reading a story titled "How I spent my summer vacation" by Mark Teague and wrote about our own summer vacation. Some students showed courage by sharing their writing on the stage. In math, we talked about even and odd numbers and how we can tell if they are even and odd. We also practiced identifying between the two. Next, we spent time coloring and gluing our cover pages to our notebooks. Last, we got to dip into the iPads and played prodigy to practice math concepts. I challenge you to continue this game at home and battle one another..even me :)

Of course the most exciting time of our day was going outside to see the amazing solar eclipse. The kids really enjoyed putting on their glasses to get a peak.

I look forward to the days ahead at PCE!

Tomorrow is the big day! I am so excited to start the first day of school. We are going to have so much fun learning and getting to know each other.

Make sure you get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and come to school on time and prepared.

I will see you tomorrow! GO Panthers!!
