The Manor ISD Board of Trustees, with the support of Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery, approved pay increases Monday night for a wide variety of positions, including starting teacher salary as well as pay for hourly workers such as bus drivers, food service workers, and custodians.
Under the measure approved by the board Monday night, starting teacher salary pay will increase by 4 percent to $46,300. Teachers, librarians and nurses will receive a 4 percent general pay increase, or about $2,000 per individual.
Also under the measure, bus drivers will see a significant pay increase to $16 per hour. The midpoint pay rate for bus drivers will increase to $19.51 per hour.
In addition, the following will also receive 4% raises:
Middle & High School Counselors: 4% general pay increase
SLP, OT, Diag, LSSP, ES Counselors: 4% general pay increase
Administrative-Professional: 4% of pay range midpoint increase
Clerical Paraprofessional: 4% of pay range midpoint increase
“These raises show that Manor ISD is serious about recruiting and retaining the top educational industry professionals—from our teachers and paraprofessionals to custodial staff and bus drivers,” Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery said. “We value our staff’s hard work and this pay raise reflects that.”
The pay increase was recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards in order to help Manor ISD recruit top staff. All pay raises are contingent upon the passage of the 2017-18 school year budget.
