Transfer Students

Transfers - In District

School choice intradistrict transfers between and among District elementary and middle schools shall be permitted within the following guidelines:

  1. A student in his or her home attendance area shall always have first priority in assignments.

  2. The deadline for submitting a request to attend a school outside the attendance boundary of residence shall be May 1.

  3. Taking into consideration growth estimates for the upcoming year, principals shall establish available slots for each grade level for school choice intradistrict transfers.

  4. Parents will be notified of the status of the application in a timely fashion and no later than August 1 prior to the beginning of the respective school year.

  5. Parents shall be responsible for transportation for a student who chooses to attend school outside his or her attendance area through the school choice intradistrict transfer policy.

  6. Although there is no guarantee that a student selected for a school choice intradistrict transfer shall be permitted to attend the school outside his or her attendance areas in future years, the student shall be given first choice if space is available.

Transfers - Nonresidents

Nonresidents shall be considered for enrollment in Manor ISD schools based on the following requirements:
 
  • Timely application shall be made by the student, parent or guardian on the appropriate form.
  • A transfer shall not violate existing statutes.
  • A transfer shall not be approved that would limit the educational opportunities of resident students.
  • Applications for transfer shall be considered on an annual basis.
  • To the extent permitted by law, attendance, academic performance, including grades and results of the state-mandated assessment system, and the disciplinary history shall be considered for transfer approval.
  • The Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee has the authority to accept or reject any transfer request, provided that such action is without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sex, disability, or national origin.
  • Parents will be notified of the status of the application in a timely fashion and no later than August 1 prior to the beginning of the respective school year.
 
Please fill out a form for each student requesting to transfer into Manor ISD.
